Strip 1-5 instruktions
Hairpin lace shawl:
1. 84 loops on 1. strips, 3 rapport
2. 196 loops on 2. strips, 7 rapport
3. 308 loops on 3. strips, 11 rapport
4. 420 loops on 4. strips, 15 rapport
5. 476 loops on 5. strips, 17 rapport
How to make the rapport:
Take the loops of the hairpin lace fork, but DO NOT cut the yarn.
Make 7 ch, * put 14 loops on the crochetneedles, take together with a sc, ( 6 ch, put on 2 loops take together with a sc)* 7 times, 7 ch. Rep. out the stripes. 7 ch, sc in the midle of the hairpinlace stripes, 7 ch. (Take 2 loops together with a sc, 6 ch.)rep 7 times, take 14 loops and take this together with a sc. Rep out the stripes.
Now it will be the same number of rapport on boot site, but in difrent way.
2 stripes takes together like this:
Stripe 1 and 2: On stripe 2 skip the first 14 loops and 3 of the 2 loops together. Fest in the 4. 2 loops and make 5 ch, fest on the first 2 loops on stripe 1. ( make 4 ch, fest whit a sc on the 5ch-part, 5 ch) rep. 7 times, 4 ch, sc in the 4. 2loops. Rep. this out the stripes. And the end it will stop like the star but in difrent way.
Stripe 2 and 3: as stripe 1 and 2
Stripe 3 and 4: as stripe 1 and 2
Stripe 4 and 5: Now you will do the same, but start on the 4. of 2 loops on the 5 stripe.
The edging must have 984 loops. Sometime I have to make more or less, but that is because I use difrent yarn.
The yarn I often is using is 50gram 160 meter. And I will need 3 balls of them.
The size of my hairpin tools is often 7cm, but I sometime use 5 cm. It dosen matter, it is only the size of the shawl who will be difrent.
Hairpin Lace Shawl
Strip 6 instructions
Make a basic hairpin lace strip with 492 loops on each side of the loom. (Note: depending on the yarn used, the amount of loops needed may be less than 492. To make the corners lie flat, you may need to take more increases than stated in these instructions. Be sure to start at the beginning of the strip when you begin to join. This will make it easier to rip out unnecessary loops at the end.) The shawl used for the model was made with fingering weight yarn and required 459 loops on each side of the loom.
Joining (Center back of shawl)
Pick up 3 loops on the hairpin lace strip and sc. Ch 4, sc in first chain space nearest to the center back of the shawl. *Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in the next chain space on shawl, rep from* across. Continue until the final 2 chain spaces before the first corner.
1st Corner
[Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space on shawl. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in the same chain space as before] 2 times (2 sc in each chain space)
[Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space. *Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in the same chain space as before, rep from* twice.] 2 times (3 sc in chain space)
Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in the same chain space as before. (2 sc in chain space)
Side 1
*Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space, rep from* until the chain space following the first shell in strip 1, sc.
Tip of Shawl
Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in the sc at the base of the shell. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space. *Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in sc at base of the 1st of the 7 2-loop groups. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space, rep from* around tip of shawl. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4 sc in sc at the base of the shell on the opposite side of strip 1.
Side 2
*Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space, rep from* until 3 chain spaces remain on side.
2nd Corner
Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in same chain space as before. (2 sc in chain space)
[Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space. *Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in same chain space as before, rep from* twice] 2 times (3 sc in the chain spaces)
[Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space. Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in same chain space as before] 2 times (2 sc in chain spaces)
Back of shawl
*Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, ch 4, sc in next chain space, rep from* until end. Ch 4, sl st in beginning sc. Finish off.
Edging
Pick up 3 loops and join with a sc. *Ch 4, sc in next 3-loop group, rep from* around. Ch 4, sl st in beginning sc. Finish off.
